They Never Learn – Pedophile Who Used Dark Web to Access Child Porn Arrested for the Second Time 1

Mr Hunt was arrested at the state level on similar charges in 2012 during operation corral.”

Boston-a Brockton man previously convicted of child pornography offenses told Federal agents he began using the dark web as soon as his probation ended to access child pornography again, according to a Federal affidavit.

Daniel hunt, 50, was arrested by homeland security agents Tuesday morning at his mother’s home in Brockton and charged in U.S. district court in Boston with receiving child pornography and possessing child pornography.

His first appearance in the U.S. court of John Joseph Moakley is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hunt was arrested by Federal agents, assisted by Brockton police detectives, after investigating his alleged use of the dark web (which are websites that are usually encrypted and cannot be found by traditional methods) to access child pornography.

Hunt was previously arrested at the state level for similar crimes in 2012 during operation corral, which he led the Massachusetts Internet crimes against children unit.

On Tuesday, hunt agreed to speak with agents who arrived at the HAMPTON Avenue home in Brockton. He told agents that the Tor browser, which was created using onion routing on the dark web to route traffic through multiple servers and encrypt it along the way, was downloaded to his laptop, according to an affidavit filed in U.S. district court in Boston.

“Hunt told investigators that he had been using Tor to access child pornography for about three years,” national security investigation special agent Gregory Squire wrote in an affidavit. “Hunt admitted that he had previously been convicted of child pornography offences and did not begin using Tor until after he had completed his probation.”

The Secretary of the Department of corrections said Tuesday that hunt had not served time in a state prison. It was not immediately clear if he had served time in the County jail on charges of possessing child pornography since 2012.

Hunt told investigators Tuesday that he used a laptop to access and download images and videos of child pornography and that he was sexually attracted to boys as young as 12, the affidavit said.

A forensic examination of the computer at the scene revealed “more than a hundred images and videos, including child and teen pornography” ” which were stored in various folders on the computer’s desktop and stored thematically, Squire reports.

The affidavit does not specifically state how agents were alerted or became aware of hunt’s alleged use of the dark web for child pornography, but it does say they know he used it between Nov. 5, 2016 and as recently as last week.

In 2012, hunt was arrested on one charge of possession of child pornography.
