Dream Vendor Drug Llama Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison 1

Also known as” llama drugs, ” he was sentenced to nine years in prison for distributing fentanyl throughout the United States using the dark net market.

According to the U.S. police for the district of Illinois, the charge began in January 2019, when an indictment was filed against Brandon A., 34, and his accomplice Melissa Scanlan, 32, aka “llama the drug.”

The replacement indictment charged arias with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, illegal distribution of fentanyl (5 counts), selling counterfeit pills and mislabeling drugs.

He pleaded guilty to all 8 charges back in July.

Melissa Scanlan pleaded guilty to her role in the conspiracy, in addition to her involvement in a global money laundering conspiracy and the separate matter of helping distribute fentanyl that led to a man’s death.

She will be sentenced on February 10, 2020. Each arias and Scanlan have been in Federal custody since their arrest in early 2019.

According to the lawsuits, arias and Scanlan created an account on the “dream marketplace,“ a dark online marketplace where users buy and sell illegal materials and services in which they offer significant portions of drugs under the name” the drug llama.”

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, the couple led the operation from their hometown of San Diego, California. While working for two years, arias was actively involved in distributing Scanlan more than 1,000 fentanyl and acetylfentanyl tablets each week.

They raked in more than $ 100,000 from their darknet drug trade and split the profits equally.

The case was part of a months-long nationwide operation involving the FDA’s office of investigation, the DEA, the U.S. postal and inspection service, U.S. customs and border protection (CBP), the U.S. attorney’s office for the district of California, and the U.S. attorney’s office for the southern district of Illinois.
